The New Zealand Centre for Business Ethics and Sustainable Development (NZCBESD) encourages environmentally, socially and financially successful business practice through research and education about business ethics and sustainable development. We provide a bridge between education and business – set within a unique framework based on the PhD model developed by Dr Rodger Spiller and the awards programme based on this model.
OriginsThe NZCBESD was initiated by the Auckland University of Technology (AUT) Foundation in 1998, as a partnership between the Auckland University of Technology (AUT), the University of Auckland, and the Manukau Institute of Technology (MIT) with private sector support from the Tindall Foundation, David Levene and other sponsors. Dr Rodger Spiller was involved from the inception and appointed as Executive Director.
Recognising and Celebrating SuccessAn important role of our organisation is identifying and profiling New Zealand business success stories that provide examples and inspiration for others. A key forum for this is the Kensington Swan Ethical Governance Awards that are now in their twelfth year.
